Get back into Wargaming the Seven Years War with Minden Rose, a new set of Wargames rules for fighting European Battles in the mid eighteenth century.

These rules are designed for either 25mm or 15mm size figures. The game works with any army size, so you can start small, and have a few games while you build your armies up.

The rules are simple to understand, and all play is simultaneous. There is no record keeping (writing down orders or keeping track of casualties). Players will each need around 30 normal six-sided dice (D6), a measuring stick or tape measure and some Red, Yellow and Green counters (such as tiddlywinks) for battlefield orders.

The appeal of the Seven Years War from a Wargaming point of view has much to do with the developing linear tactics of the era, the variety of interesting uniforms deployed (not the least being the flamboyant Hussars), the increasing effectiveness of Musketry and availability of Artillery. As a period, it is well served by metal figure manufacturers in 25mm and 15mm, and more plastics figures have become available in recent years.

The mid 18 th century was the inspiration for many of the early Wargaming classic books, such as "Charge, or how to play Wargames" by Brigadier Young, or "The Wargame", by Charles Grant, both of which featured the wonderful Spencer Smith plastic 30mm figures, now back in production in metal! We hope there is a nostalgic flavour to these rules, capturing the spirit of the games we played in our younger days, but with some innovative modern means to overcome some of the more clunky aspects of older rule-sets.

A points system is included if players wish to fight battles with equal sides. Scenario's based around the Battle of Minden and the Battle of Zorndorf are included in the rule book, as is a brief history of the 7YW, the main combatants, lists of major battles and army lists (for Prussia, Russia, Austria, Britain and her allies, French and Reichsarmee.

In all 36 pages of rules illustrated with colour and black and white photographs of beautifully painted miniatures and diagrams to explain some of the more intricate aspects of the rules; plus a separate A4 "Quick Play Sheet" reproducing the 7 tables you need to play the game.
